On February 25, 2019 at approximately 11:20 a.m. police became aware of domestic related assaults that had occurred between the male accused and female victim. The accused and victim had been married for 30 years. Police learned that the accused had previously struck the victim in the face resulting in injuries to her nose. The victim had sought medical attention for the injury. Police, after further investigation, learned that the accused had also been involved in an incident where he had grabbed the victim by both arms and shook her with force. This incident had occurred after the victim had tried to intervene between the accused and their son during an argument.

On February 25, 2019 at approximately 2:45 p.m. police attended a residence north of Highway 401 and arrested the accused. The accused was then transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 61-year-old local man was charged with two counts assault.
