On July 10, 2019 at approximately 5:50 p.m. the female accused was observed by store security entering a midtown Kingston grocery store. Security watched the accused as she selected various items and then placed them in her bag and pocket. The accused attended the front of the store and paid for other selected merchandise before leaving without making any attempt to pay for the items still concealed in her bag and pocket.


Store security took the accused into custody and contacted police. Police responded at approximately 6:15 p.m. and arrested the accused. Upon searching the accused incident to arrest police located a wallet and contents that had previously been reported as stolen.


The accused was transported to police headquarters where she was later released on conditions with a future court date.


A 38-year-old local woman was charged with theft under $5000 and possession under $5000.
