On November 7, 2019 at approximately 12:30 a.m. police responded to a call in the area of Bath Road and Portsmouth Avenue in regards to the female accused walking in the middle of the road while yelling and screaming.


Police located the accused on Portsmouth Avenue and requested that she get off of the roadway for her own safety and so as to not impede the flow of traffic. The accused refused to get off of the roadway while using defamatory remarks toward police.


Police approached the accused and tried to assist her off of the roadway to prevent her from being struck by oncoming vehicles. The accused then punched the officer twice in the face with her fist while berating her. Police attempted to restrain the accused while she struggled and tried to bite them.  


Police arrested the accused at 12:40 a.m. at which time she continued to yell profanities and kick at officers. She was transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.


A 21-year-old local woman was charged with assault peace officer.
