A 37-year-old local man is facing a total of 15 charges including weapons, drugs and breach offences after he refused to stop for police while riding his bicycle.

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Montreal St near Weller Ave uniform patrol officers observed three cyclists riding on the sidewalk with no proper lights or reflectors on the bicycles. When police attempted to stop and identify the front cyclist, who had a hoodie concealing his face, the man then tried to flee by going through an apartment complex over to Daly St but was apprehended in Shannon Park near Rideau Height Public School.

He was arrested and upon being searched a spring-loaded knife and an expandable baton were found, as well as suspected crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, and a weigh scale. He was on a weapons prohibition as well as a probation order with conditions that included a curfew, and not to be in possession of weapons, drugs or weigh scales. He was brought to the police station and held in cells to attend a bail hearing later that day.
