On June 28, 2021 at approximately 9:20 p.m. police received multiple 911 hang-up calls from a downtown area residence. Responding officers located the accused and victim arguing and separated the two. The victim was frightened and hysterical and removed to a safe location.
An investigation the following day revealed the accused had attacked the victim during an argument over money. During the attack the accused grabbed the victim by her throat and slammed her down onto the bed. The accused then began choking and threatening to kill the victim. The accused eventually stopped choking the victim only to strike her across the face multiple times. Once the victim managed to get on her feet, the accused shoved her, causing the victim to fall and hit her head on a table.
The victim suffered abrasions, bruising, swelling and a laceration.
The accused was later located and arrested. He was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing.
A 37-year-old local man was charged with assault cause bodily harm, choking, and utter threats to cause death.
