Kingston Police Uniform Patrol Division is generally the first contact citizens have with the police. Patrol officers provide response to citizens requests for police services in accordance with the highest standards of professional skill, integrity and accountability. Our highly trained officers are assigned to one of four platoons who work twelve hour shifts so we can effectively serve the Kingston community 24 hours a day. Each Platoon consists of approximately 18 officers, two sergeants and a staff sergeant One Inspector oversees the entire Patrol Division.
Front line patrol officers are responsible for patrolling the community, responding to routine calls, emergency calls for service, crimes in progress, enforcing federal and provincial laws, enforcing municipal by-laws, investigating various complaints and criminal offences, traffic control and enforcement, being proactive in the prevention of crime and promoting and maintaining strong community relations and partnerships. Our officers are committed to serving the community and safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens of Kingston.
