Community Officer

All year long officers in our Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit organize, participate, and support many different community programs, initiatives and events.

The purpose of the Community Programs Officer (CPO) is to provide coordinated, community-based crime prevention initiatives to the Kingston Community with a focus on neighbourhoods, business, aging sector and risked based crime prevention.


The goal of the CPO Program is to circumvent a crime before it occurs. The definition guiding crime prevention in Ontario reads as follows:


"The anticipation, recognition and appraisal of a crime risk and the actions taken – including the integratedcommunity leadership required – to remove or reduce it”.
